Certification/Licensure Information

The U.S. Department of Education has implemented regulations (Regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a)(5)(v)) which requires 海角社区 Technical & Community College (ATCC) to make public whether a program will fulfill educational requirements for a specific professional licensure or certification required for employment in an occupation where the institution’s curriculum meets state educational requirements for professional licensure or certification.

Exercise Science

This applies to:

Exercise Science curriculum actively prepares students for a credentialing exam from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). The Certified Personal Trainer certification (NSCA-CPT) is recognized by all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. protectorates.

 

Medical Laboratory Technician

This applies to:

Medical Laboratory Technician curriculum actively prepares students for the Board of Certification Examination of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, which is recognized globally.

 

Nursing

This applies to:

Students may go to the National Council of States Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) website to review each state’s initial licensure educational requirements:

  • This information is only for initial licensure by exam requirements for the state listed.
  • ATCC's Practical Nursing and Associate Degree of Nursing programs meet the requirements for licensure in Minnesota. For all other states, it is undetermined if ATCC meets educational requirements.
  • Students should contact the Board of Nursing in the state they would like to be initially licensed in for more specific information.

 

Ophthalmic Medical Technician

This applies to:

Ophthalmic Medical Technician program graduates are approved to sit for the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel
in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO®) certification at the intermediate, (COT®) level. The COT® designation confirms a technician’s knowledge in specific content areas. COT® candidates must successfully complete both a multiple-choice examination and a skill evaluation.

Program graduates must submit a certification application within 12 months of completing the program. Once IJCAHPO® confirms eligibility requirements have been met, the graduate may contact Pearson VUE to schedule their examination.


Speech-Language Pathology Assistant

This applies to:

Speech Language Pathology Assistant is now a protected title. Anyone providing speech-language services to a patient/client and/or any individual on an IEP needs to be licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). Speech Language Pathology Assistant AAS and Certificate programs meet licensing requirements for the state of Minnesota, but it is undetermined if ATCC meets educational requirements for licensure or certification in other U.S. states.

Program graduates need to submit their ATCC credential with their . This will suffice for the logging of any clinical hours obtained during their internships. Completion of the ASHA SLPA modules and/or passing the ASHA SLPA national certificate exam will not meet state criteria for licensing. Note that passing the ASHA SLPA certificate is not required to be licensed in the state of MN. It will not be accepted by MDH as one of the educational criteria options.

 

Police Training & Education

This applies to:

Police Training & Education programs teach the skills and characteristics necessary to successfully pass the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board examination and gain employment in the state of Minnesota. These programs are intended to prepare a student for potential licensure or certification in Minnesota and students may or may not meet the educational requirements for a licensure or certification in another state.

For police training & education programs offered online, it is undetermined if ATCC meets educational requirements for other U.S. states.

 

Truck Driving

This applies to:

Professional Truck Driver certificate programs prepare students for Commercial Driver's Licensure (CDL) in the state of Minnesota. It is undetermined whether ATCC meets the licensure requirements for any state other than Minnesota. .
