Carpentry student expands knowledge through city internship.

Second-year º£½ÇÉçÇø Technical and Community College carpentry student Joshua Venenga accepted an opportunity to serve as a full-time intern from April 1 to May 3, 2024, with the .

“It feels good to work with the city and get this internship,” said Venenga. “I am excited to learn new things while I am there.”

º£½ÇÉçÇø City Council approved the building department’s request for an intern on March 11. Venenga will be working with the building code administration. The internship provides interns, like Venenga, with knowledge and exposure to city building regulations showing them another opportunity within the construction career field.

“I firmly believe that exposing students to diverse career options is essential to their development,” said Troy Rupp, º£½ÇÉçÇø College carpentry instructor. “This exposure encourages students to explore alternative avenues beyond their comfort zone and fosters a deeper understanding of the industry and the multitude of career opportunities available.”
