The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) service provides tax return preparation to low-income individuals each year. In 2023, eighteen students and nine volunteers prepared 259 tax returns totaling more than $527,000 in refunds. This is an increase over the 200 returns prepared in 2022.

• 28 returns for single parents with low income
• 35 college students with over $50,000 in education credits
• 150 taxpayers had income less than $25,000
• 61 returns for Seniors over 60
• 37 returns for adult foster care residents in coordination with REM Central Lakes
